Landmarks SGA just wrapped up work on the Uptown Mt. Lebanon Main Street Design Guidelines, a document providing best practices for the rehabilitation of historic buildings in the central business district of Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania. An early-twentieth-century suburb of Pittsburgh shaped by both the streetcar and the automobile, Mt. Lebanon is home to many beautiful Art Deco, Modern, and Mediterranean Revival buildings. The purpose of the Design Guidelines is to preserve this unique architectural integrity and incentivize property owners making renovations to their properties to complete them in a manner sensitive to the community's historical context. In addition to the Design Guidelines, Landmarks SGA staff also developed a draft sign ordinance for the Mt. Lebanon Partnership and completed a building-by-building inventory of architectural styles, features, and conditions for the Uptown area.
